Chaplaincy Ministries, Inc. is a 3-fold ministry that provides pastoral care to the patients, families and staff at Medical City Dallas Hospital.

The Ministry was founded in 1979 by the late Mary C. Crowley in appreciation for the recovery of her son.  Chaplaincy Ministry was formally recognized in 1982 and has chaplains on call 24/7 that respond to all codes and provide counseling for patients, families and staff. Our chaplains minister to people during the most frightening and difficult times of their lives giving them peace, comfort and a compassionate ear.

The chaplains also assist new nurses and interns by providing lectures and training on compassion fatigue, showing empathy to grieving patients and families, and maintaining a positive attitude.  They perform weddings and funerals for the patients and staff as well as present seminars on grief and stress management. 

The COVID-19 crisis has highlighted (and increased) the hard work and invaluable service that the chaplains provide.  Their heroic service to our patients and staff has provided both comfort and encouragement during a chaotic and frightening time.  Our chaplains are an invaluable asset to Medical City and the many people that they serve.
